Rose Stuart, an Elder within the Assiniboine Nation had the privilege of being raised in a traditional, Native American household. She was the CEO of the same multi-million dollar agriculture enterprise in which her son was CFO. She also served in numerous, related organizational capacities, such as the National Farmers Organization (NFO), Women Involved In Farm Economics (WIFE), and was an advocate for Indian credit, resource and civil rights issues on behalf of the Intertribal Agriculture Council (IAC). In her capacity as CEO of Stuart Farms, she was actively involved in negotiating thousands of acres of farmland leases and million dollar land purchases, with both the Tribal Council and Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA). Her life’s personal and business experiences have continued to reinforce her Indian community value system, and provided her with the wisdom to guide and insure that the Rose Community Development Corporation, which is named in her honor, remains faithful to and guided by those same fundamental Indian values of community.
